A frequently repeated mistake is that climbing on Kalymnos is impossible during the summer due to high temperatures. On the Greek island, including Kalymnos, there is the northern wind (Meltemi). Thanks to it, the sultry and humid climate typical of European rock gardens in the summer, the island is not too burdensome.

 

Często powtarzanym błędem, jest to że wspinanie na Kalymnos jest niemożliwe w okresie letnim ze względu na wysokie temperatury. Na greckich wyspa, w tym na Kalymnos, występuje północny wiatr (Meltemi). Dzięki niemu, duszny i wilgotny klimat typowy dla  europejskich ogródków skalnych latem,  na wyspie nie jest zbyt uciążliwe.

 

The golden rule is „do not climb in the sun!”. Sectors located in the shade, together with the blowing wind, allow climbing during the summer. There are even summer mornings when a long sleeve may be needed.

 

Złotą zasadą jest „nie wspinać się w słońcu!”. Sektory położone w cieniu, razem z wiejącym wiatrem, umożliwiają wspinanie w okresie letnim. Zdarzają się nawet letnie poranki kiedy może być potrzebny długi rękaw.

July is one of the warmer months of the year, the sea is already warmed up and the morning climbing in shaded sectors will satisfy even picky people.

Due to the location of the sectors on the west and south-west side, they will be available from early in the morning. Most sectors allow climbing from 08.00-14.00 to later relax on the beach. The beginning of August is the period of the largest tourist traffic in Greece – however, the location of Kalymnos, the lack of tourist resorts and popularity mainly among climbers guarantees peace.

Ze względu na położenie sektorów po stronie zachodniej i południowo-zachodniej, będą one dostępne od samego rana. Większość sektorów pozwala na wspinanie się w od 08.00-14.00, aby później relaksować się na plaży. Początek sierpnia jest okresem największego ruchu turystycznego Grecji – jednakże położenie Kalymnos, brak ośrodków turystycznych oraz popularność głównie wśród wspinaczy gwarantuje spokój.
